The 2011 Sublime Team to compete at the Australian Ultimate Championships in Brisbane will be announced following the team bonding weekend in Dunsborough on 29/30 January 2010. Individual feedback will be provided to players over the Christmas/New Years break.

All players named in the Training Squad above are offered the opportunity to attend both east coast weekends (Colony in Sydney - 26/27 February 2010 and BCI in Canberra - 12/13 March 2010). As previously indicated, attendance at these east coast weekends represents a major opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best teams from across the country in preparation for Nationals. It is therefore vitally important that we get good numbers to each weekend to ensure that we maximise the benefit to be had from each event, both as a team and individually.

Sublime Tryout - 5th December 2011

Initially we had planned on having our final selection session on the 19th of December however WAFDA have recently announced the big skies 7 tournament for that day.

Thus we will be having a longer training session (3-6pm) on Sunday the 5th of December. Anyone who would like to be considered for Sublime 2011 will need to be in attendance. If you will not be able to attend this session you need to get in contact with the leadership group ASAP. Selections will still be made over the christmas break based on everything we have seen of you, however this session will carry some extra weight. Additionally it is planned to enter in multiple Sublime teams for the Big Sky Seven's tournament and use it to assess game play.

We require everyone to register on the AFDA event for the session on the 5th December, which can be found at http://www.afda.com/rego/showteam.php?teamid=8816. I know its a pain but it takes 2 minutes and allows us to plan the best session possible. Also shows that you can follow instruction which is a key part of our selection criteria.

If you have any questions please don't hesistate to ask.

Regards

• To be a fun team where you enjoy play and get to know your team mates.
• To be a positive team to develop individual and team skills.
• To develop leadership and strategies for 2012

In order to achieve the objectives defined for Sublime’s 2011 campaign below is a list of the club expectations. Expectations will vary for each team in terms of some training and financial expectations however all club members should be striving to achieve

Club High Performance, Development and Team Selection
Sublime will have two teams, a high performance (Nationals) team and a development team.
• The Nationals team will be selected based on a nominal skill level reflecting the potential of the team.
o The leadership group will therefore not select a particular team size for the championships, rather selecting based on the positive contribution individuals can make to the team and team balance. Some interstate players may be used where the leadership group determines they will be beneficial to the team and team balance. I
o Interstate players will not be used instead of WA players rather they would be added to team as defined in the above point.
• The development team will be selected based on fielding a Nationals calibre team for players looking to play more competitive ultimate outside of WA and to develop their individual game. The focus of this team will be geared more towards gaining experience.
• Players who are not selected for the Nationals team will have opportunities and will be encouraged to participate with the Sublime Nationals team in elite warm up tournaments to gain experience.
• Team selections will be made based on performance at training sessions and tryouts.

The general arrangement for selections is as follows.
o Tryout weekends - December.
o Teams announced – early January.
o Club Bonding weekend – mid/late January
o 2 x Warm Up tournaments (East Coast) - Feb/March (ie Club attendance - players drawn from both teams)
o Regionals – February
o Nationals – early April

*The Development team will have more relaxed criteria however players will be expected to strive to achieve this over the course of the season.

Training Requirements**
• Be punctual and focused at training. Sublime will train like it will play.
• Training will be one weeknight and one weekend session. This will involve some fitness, skills and scrimmaging. Most fitness and throwing skills sessions will need be done in your own time or in collectives of team mates.
• Training and bonding weekends will occur where increased focus is required. These will typically be followed by rest weekends.
• A calendar has been prepared to prioritise commitments over the season.
**The Development team will have a slightly varied training schedule. Please see the calendar for details.

Financial Commitments***
• You must be able to attend at least one eastern tournament (BCI, regionals etc) in addition to Nationals to increase high level game experience and create a better team attitude and chemistry. (Some exceptions may be made at the discretion of the leadership group based upon individual circumstances).

Further information will be provided as event dates and locations are confirmed.

Club Commitments and Communication
• Provide input and assistance to the club in order to implement normal operation of the club, whether it be coaching, administration, uniforms, fund raising etc and all players will be expected to contribute to these in order to run a great club.
• This year Sublime will operate with a buddy system whereby direct groups of players will be able to speak to a particular member of the leadership group. This will be the method of providing feedback to you the player and you providing (honest) feedback or constructive critiques back to the team.
